Ubuntu 26.10 Stonking Stingray

Ubuntu 26.10, codenamed Stonking Stingray, is planned for final release on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Final Freeze and the Release Candidate come a week earlier, on October 8.

It is an interim release, not an LTS, and builds toward the next long-term release, Ubuntu 28.04 LTS.

Milestones on the official schedule: Feature Freeze on August 20, UI Freeze on September 10, Documentation String Freeze and Kernel Feature Freeze on September 17, Beta Freeze and Hardware Enablement Freeze on September 21, Beta on September 24, Kernel Freeze on October 1, then Final Freeze and the Release Candidate on October 8.

Canonical replaced the old Alpha and Beta 1 milestones with optional testing weeks. The schedule page does not list the kernel or desktop versions for 26.10, so this page does not either.
