Most "buy it for life" lists are written for the US or Europe. Half the products on them are not sold in India, and the other half come without an Indian warranty or a service centre you can actually reach. A product only lasts for life if someone in your city can fix it.
This page only lists products that are sold in India, carry an official Indian warranty, and have a service network here. Prices are in rupees. We did not test these products. This is a researched buying guide, built from each brand's own India pages and warranty terms. For the worldwide list, see our global edition, Buy it for life: tech. Last checked: September 26, 2026. Warranty terms and prices change, sometimes mid-year (Samsung cut its compressor warranty from 20 years to 10 in April 2026). Check the brand's India page before you buy.
- Laptop: a Lenovo ThinkPad bought in India. Warranty upgrades go up to 5 years with onsite service. Framework does not ship to India.
- Phones: Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 both promise 7 years of updates. Samsung has 3,000+ service points, Pixel repair centres cover 21 cities.
- Kitchen: Hawkins and Prestige pressure cookers carry a 5-year warranty. Preethi mixers get a 5-year motor warranty and lifelong free service.
- Home: LG direct drive washing machines get a 10-year motor warranty. Inverter fridges from Samsung and LG get 10 years on the compressor (part only).
- Grey-market imports void most India warranties. Buy from the brand or its authorised Indian sellers.
How we picked
Every product here had to pass four checks. We weighted service more than raw build quality, because in India a well-made product with no service centre nearby is a paperweight after the first fault.
1. Official India warranty. How long is the warranty on the India unit, and can you extend it? A long warranty on one part (a motor or compressor) counts, but we say clearly when it is part only.
2. Service network in India. Does the brand run or authorise service centres across many cities, or offer doorstep service? A toll-free number with nothing behind it does not count.
3. Spare parts in India. Can a service centre get the part, or does every fault mean a full replacement? Brands with long part warranties (compressors, motors) have to stock those parts.
4. Repairability. Can the part that fails first be swapped cheaply? Gaskets, carbon brushes, filters and batteries are fine. A glued-in battery on a Rs 1.5 lakh laptop is a real cost.
What we left out: anything only sold through importers, anything with a warranty that only works in the US or EU, and brands where we could not confirm an India warranty on an official page.
A product bought abroad, or imported by an unauthorised seller, usually has no India warranty. Samsung India says it only supports products made, launched and marketed by Samsung India. Overseas units can be repaired, but you pay. Google's India warranty applies only to Pixels bought from Google or its authorised resellers where the phone is sold. Anker's warranty is limited to the country of purchase. Logitech India supports buyers from authorised sellers only.
Before you buy on a marketplace, check the seller is the brand or an authorised distributor, and ask for a GST invoice. A too-good price on a "global version" is often the warranty you are giving up.

Laptops
Why not Framework?
Framework is the most repairable laptop you can buy, and it tops most global BIFL lists. But Framework does not ship to India as of September 2026. People who import one through a freight forwarder pay customs duty and get no local service. If you want repairability with a real India warranty, a ThinkPad bought here is the practical choice.
Lenovo ThinkPad (E14, T14)
ThinkPads are built for companies that keep laptops for years, and Lenovo India sells warranty upgrades to match.
India warranty: The base warranty depends on the model. Many ThinkPads ship with 1 year, and some premium models ship with longer cover. Lenovo India sells upgrades up to 5 years, including onsite service where a technician comes to you. Lenovo recommends buying the upgrade with the laptop or within 90 days.
Service network: Lenovo has service centres in all major metros and 25+ more cities, plus a separate Think support line (1800-419-4666). Onsite cover matters most if you are outside a metro.
What fails first: The battery. Plan on a battery replacement in the life of the laptop, and check the part price before your warranty ends.
Tip: Think products may qualify for Lenovo's International Warranty Service (IWS). If you move abroad, check your serial number on Lenovo's IWS lookup before assuming you are covered.

MacBook Air (M5)
Macs get long macOS support and hold resale value in India. The trade-off is repairability: RAM and storage are fixed at purchase, so buy the size you will need in five years.
India warranty: Every Mac includes a one-year limited warranty. AppleCare+ for the 13-inch MacBook Air extends it to three years for Rs 19,900 and adds accidental damage cover (Rs 8,900 per screen or enclosure repair, Rs 25,900 for other damage). AppleCare+ has a short purchase window after activation, so decide at checkout.
Service network: Apple runs six stores in India (BKC and Borivali in Mumbai, Saket in Delhi, Hebbal in Bengaluru, Koregaon Park in Pune, and Noida), plus authorised service providers in other cities.
What fails first: The battery. Apple does battery service, but it is not a job you do at home. See our MacBook buying guide to pick the right model.

Keyboards and peripherals
Logitech MX Keys S and MX Master
Most boutique mechanical keyboards are sold in India through importers with no brand warranty. Logitech is the exception with a real India service setup.
India warranty: Logitech sets the period per product and prints it on the box and the product's support page. Check both before you buy, and keep the invoice.
Service network: Logitech India lists 70+ authorised service centres in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai. If you cannot visit one, customer care can arrange a pickup and replacement.
What fails first: On mice, the switches and scroll wheel. On keyboards, the built-in battery after many years. Logitech India replaces rather than repairs, so the warranty period is what matters.

Phones
Phones are hard to buy for life. Batteries wear out, and software support ends. We only picked phones with seven years of promised updates and a large Indian service network.
Samsung Galaxy S26
Samsung promises seven years of Android upgrades and security updates for the Galaxy S26. Samsung raised Indian S26 prices on September 20, 2026, so the 12GB/256GB model moved from Rs 87,999 to Rs 99,999.
India warranty: 12 months on the handset and 12 months on the battery. The charger and cable get 6 months.
Service network: Samsung has over 3,000 authorised service points across India, the widest phone network on this list. Use the service centre locator with your pin code.
What fails first: The battery, then the screen if dropped. With seven years of updates, budget for at least one battery replacement at an authorised centre.

Google Pixel 10
Google promises seven years of OS and security updates for the Pixel 10. Pixels are now made in India too.
India warranty: One year from the date of purchase, valid only if bought from Google or an authorised reseller.
Service network: Google has same-day repair centres in 21 Indian cities. Outside those cities you depend on mail-in repair, so check the list for your city before buying.
What fails first: The battery. Repair access is the weak point compared with Samsung, not the hardware.

Charging
Anker chargers and power banks
No charger is really a buy-for-life product. Cells age and standards change. The goal here is a charger that will not damage your phone, from a brand that will replace it in India.
India warranty: 12 months on Anker products sold by Anker or its authorised resellers. Defects reported within 7 days of receipt get a replacement. The warranty is limited to the country of purchase, so an Anker bought abroad is not covered here.
Service network: Claims go through Anker India support by email. There are no walk-in centres, but for a charger a replacement is the fix anyway.
What fails first: The cable, then battery capacity on power banks.

Kitchen
Preethi mixer grinder (Zodiac, Diamond)
Preethi's warranty on the part that matters most is long, and the service is free for life.
India warranty: 5 years on the motor and 2 years on the product, plus free lifelong maintenance service with no labour charge.
Service network: Preethi is a Chennai brand with strong service in South India. Check coverage for your city before buying if you live in the north or northeast.
What fails first: Jar couplers and blades wear before the motor does. These are cheap spare parts.

Hawkins pressure cooker (Contura, Classic)
Hawkins cookers routinely last decades, and gaskets and valves are sold in every kitchen shop in India.
India warranty: Hawkins guarantees all its pressure cookers for 5 years from first purchase against defects in material and workmanship. Registration is optional. Keep the guarantee card.
Service network: Hawkins lists sales and service across India, and genuine spares are stocked by most local kitchenware shops.
What fails first: The gasket and safety valve. These are consumables, and you should replace them when they harden or leak. Always buy genuine Hawkins spares.

Prestige Svachh tri-ply pressure cooker
A tri-ply steel body works on gas and induction, and does not react with sour food the way aluminium can.
India warranty: 5 years on Prestige pressure cookers. Some models carry longer cover.
Service network: TTK Prestige has service centres and exclusive stores across India. Carry the dealer-stamped warranty card.
What fails first: Prestige itself says to replace the gasket and safety plug every year with daily use. Budget for that, it is part of owning any cooker.

The Indus Valley cast iron tawa
Cast iron has nothing to break and no coating to wear off. It is the one pick on this list that needs no warranty and no service centre.
India warranty: None that we could find. The brand sells it as heirloom quality with a 7-day return window.
Service network: Not needed. If it rusts, you scrub and re-season it at home.
What fails first: The seasoning, if you soak it or store it wet. Dry it on the flame after washing and wipe a thin coat of oil.

Home appliances
Crompton Energion or Orient Aeon BLDC fan
Fans run 10+ hours a day in most Indian homes. BLDC fans use far less power, and some brands now back them with 5 years.
India warranty: Crompton's Energion BLDC range and Orient's Aeon BLDC fan are listed with a 5-year warranty. Atomberg, the best known BLDC brand, gives 2 years plus 1 more on registration on most models, which is why it is not our pick here.
Service network: Crompton and Orient both have long-standing electrician and service networks in small towns, not just metros.
What fails first: On BLDC fans, the electronics board and remote, not the motor. Use a surge-protected line if power is unstable.

Luminous Inverlast tall tubular battery
Tall tubular batteries last far longer than flat-plate ones under daily power cuts.
India warranty: 60 months total: 36 months free replacement plus 24 months pro-rata.
Service network: Luminous has a service centre locator and a toll-free line (1800 103 3039). Engineers visit homes for battery and inverter faults.
What fails first: Letting the water level drop. Top up with distilled water when the indicator float shows low. Neglect can also affect your warranty claim.

LG Inverter Direct Drive front load washer
A direct drive motor has no belt to snap and fewer moving parts.
India warranty: LG gives 10 years on the Inverter Direct Drive motor. The rest of the machine has the standard product warranty, so the 10 years covers the motor only.
Service network: LG has one of the largest appliance service networks in India, with doorstep service.
What fails first: The door gasket and the drain pump, usually from coins and lint. Clean the filter every few weeks.

Samsung or LG inverter refrigerator
The compressor is the costliest part of a fridge, and both brands warranty it for a decade.
India warranty: Samsung gives 10 years on the Digital Inverter compressor for purchases from April 1, 2026 (buyers from December 2022 to March 2026 got 20 years). It is part only, so you pay for labour and gas refill. LG gives 10 years on the inverter compressor.
Service network: Both brands have doorstep appliance service across India.
What fails first: Door seals and control electronics, not the compressor. Keep the invoice, since a compressor claim years later needs it.

A. O. Smith storage geyser
Hard water eats geyser tanks. A. O. Smith uses a glass-lined tank and warranties it for years.
India warranty: 5 to 7 years on the inner tank, depending on the model (7 years on Elegance Prime). Components get 2 years, extended to 4 if you register within 60 days.
Service network: A. O. Smith offers free installation and service across India.
What fails first: The heating element and the anode rod in hard water areas. The anode is meant to be replaced, so ask for it during service.

KENT Grand Plus RO purifier
No purifier is buy-for-life on its own. Filters are consumables. What you are buying is the service network that keeps changing them.
India warranty: 1 year warranty plus 3 years of free service.
Service network: KENT has doorstep service across India and sells an annual maintenance contract (AMC) that covers filter changes at a fixed cost.
What fails first: Filters and the RO membrane. KENT's own guidance is pre-filters every 6 months, the membrane every 12 to 18 months, and the UV lamp yearly. Price an AMC before you buy.

How to keep an India warranty valid
A long warranty is worth nothing if the claim is rejected. These steps are common to most brands above.
- Buy from the brand or an authorised Indian seller, and keep the GST invoice
- Register the product on the brand's India site (A. O. Smith doubles parts cover if you do it within 60 days)
- Keep the dealer-stamped warranty card for cookers and appliances
- Buy extended warranty (Lenovo, AppleCare+) within the brand's purchase window
- Use authorised service centres, since outside repairs can void cover
- Photograph the serial number and invoice and store them in the cloud
