Rockstar Games has not published an official GTA 6 map yet, but one is now dated: on November 19, 2026 it will add a free printable map of Leonida, alongside a cover art poster, to the official GTA VI site, per its November 3, 2026 Newswire post. Until then, and on the question of size, every full layout, dimension figure, and fan-drawn atlas circulating online is an unofficial estimate pieced together from promotional trailers, preview reporting, and geographic landmarks.
The Setting: Vice City and Leonida
Official facts
The official foundation of the GTA VI map is confirmed directly by Rockstar: the story unfolds across Vice City, USA, and the state of Leonida. This fictionalized Florida serves as the setting for protagonists Jason and Lucia when the game arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
What the trailers showed
Trailer 1 (December 2023) and Trailer 2 (May 2025) established the state setting across beaches, highways, wetlands, and islands. On August 27, 2026, Rockstar showcased those environments in the 26-minute Extended Look on Netflix and YouTube. One report said the PS5 footage ran at 1440p upscaled to 4K at 30 FPS, describing areas broadly as "the city" and "the Swamp." Media summaries outlined the broader layout: Vice City, the southern Keys, Everglades-style Grassrivers wetlands, and forested northern highlands.
The Six Named Regions
The official GTA VI site's Only in Leonida section has pages for six places, which we checked on November 4, 2026. The short descriptions below are our summary of trailer footage and press coverage, not an official map legend:
- Vice City: The primary Miami-inspired metropolis, defined by skylines, nightlife, and beaches.
- Leonida Keys: A southern island chain connected by overseas causeways.
- Grassrivers: Sprawling Everglades-style wetlands with bayous and airboats.
- Port Gellhorn: An industrial port city on the western coast.
- Ambrosia: An inland industrial community situated beside Lake Leonida.
- Mount Kalaga National Park: A northern wilderness preserve with forested peaks.
Prominent landmarks include Lake Leonida, Vice City International Airport, and Vice City Port. Fan databases also circulate county names like Vice-Dale, Ambrosia, Kelly, Leonard, Mariana, and Lummox, but these remain unofficial community designations.
Map Size Claims: Reported vs Community
The reported 3x RDR2 claim
Speculation surrounding the GTA 6 map size has produced conflicting figures. On August 28, 2026, VICE cited YouTuber TGG relaying preview sessions at Rockstar North, reporting that representatives described Leonida as roughly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2, with Vice City alone measuring twice the size of GTA 5 Los Santos. However, the report cited no direct Rockstar quote, and the studio has never confirmed the figure.
Media and community estimates
Other sources take different approaches:
- Media baselines: A June 2026 guide noted that Rockstar has not confirmed world size, estimating the map at 1.5 to 2 times GTA 5.
- Community mapping: Fan analysis groups estimated the boundary at 118 to 132 square miles (2.4x to 2.7x GTA 5). A separate fan summary estimated dry land at around 125 square kilometers.

Fan-Made Maps (Unofficial, No Links)
Without an official map, the community has assembled speculative cartography from trailer footage, Florida geography, and coordinate leaks.
YANIS panhandle map
Community cartographer YANIS completed a northern panhandle render in January 2026. A report said the layout appeared at least twice the size of GTA 5, noting it is not an official asset.
Trailer-based theories
Following Trailer 2, fans analyzed radar towers and control buildings, prompting reports on theories suggesting a naval base in the Keys. Independent fan platforms also host interactive atlas tools with speculative waypoints. None have access to studio data, and all remain unconfirmed fan projects.
Leaked map images
Cyberleek, the persona behind the August 2026 gameplay leaks, has also posted map images, per Mashable via Yahoo. These are unofficial: Rockstar has not confirmed them, and no outlet has verified them as the final map. Treat any size or region claim drawn from them as unconfirmed. Our GTA 6 leaks fact-check covers what is real and what is fake.
The Official Map Arrives on Launch Day
Rockstar answered the "will there be a map" question in its November 3, 2026 Newswire post. Here is what it confirmed:
- Free digital map: An official printable cover art poster and map of Leonida goes up as a free download on the official GTA VI site on November 19, 2026.
- Physical copy: A double-sided physical version follows "shortly after launch" from the Rockstar Store, for $0.99 on its own or as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase. No exact date is set.
- Not in the box: Past GTA games shipped a paper map with the disc. GTA 6 boxed copies are code-in-box versions, and Rockstar's post sells the physical map separately rather than packing it in.
Rockstar has not said whether the printable map will show the whole state or name every region, so the size and layout questions above stay open until November 19. Treat any "official GTA 6 map download" offered before that date, or on any site other than rockstargames.com, as fake. Our fake GTA 6 download scams guide explains why.
