India's two biggest online festive sales land within 24 hours of each other in 2026. Amazon confirmed Great Indian Festival (GIF) opens October 8; Flipkart confirmed Big Billion Days (BBD) opens to all shoppers October 9, with member early access October 8.

- Early access: Flipkart Plus/Black from October 8. Amazon Prime early access on October 7 is widely reported but not stated on the 2026 About Amazon post.
- Bank offers announced for Amazon GIF: 10% instant on SBI cards plus up to 10% extra for Prime. Flipkart's 2026 BBD store page shows 10% off on Axis and ICICI cards.
- Prime costs from Rs 399/year (Shopping edition) to Rs 1,499/year (full Prime). Flipkart Plus is free after 15 qualifying orders in 365 days.

Flipkart has not published an official end date for BBD 2026 yet. Amazon's 2026 post also does not name a closing date. Expect both to run roughly two to three weeks unless the platforms say otherwise.

Amazon Prime
Amazon.in/prime lists these annual plans on 2026-09-23:

Amazon's GIF announcement promises up to 10% extra for Prime members on select offers during the sale. That is on top of listed deal prices, subject to product-level caps.
Flipkart Plus
Flipkart Plus is not a paid subscription for most shoppers. Flipkart Plus terms state you qualify for Plus Silver after 15 successful transactions in 365 days, or Plus Gold after 25 transactions. Membership lasts one year once activated.
Plus and Black members get BBD early access from October 8, 2026, per Flipkart's official announcement. Flipkart Black is a separate paid tier (pricing varies by offer page).

Flipkart (2026 BBD)
Flipkart's official September 2026 announcement does not list bank percentages, but the 2026 BBD store page now shows a 10% discount on Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, plus 10% savings on the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card and 10% cashback on the first super.money transaction. Caps and eligible card types are not shown on the banner yet.
For reference only, Flipkart's Axis Bank offer terms page currently shows 2025 BBD-style language (10% instant discount up to Rs 1,750 on Axis credit cards). Do not assume the same caps apply to 2026 until Flipkart updates that page for this year's event.
Bank discounts apply only to eligible cards, select products, and stated maximums. The product page and payment step show the final number. Never trust a headline discount without opening the listing.
Early deal teasers
Flipkart has started teasing BBD 2026 prices on its store page under "Top deals coming soon", with the exact numbers hidden until the sale opens. Amazon has not posted GIF 2026 deal teasers yet; we will add them when they appear.

Amazon.in: the returns FAQ explains that items marked returnable within a window (often 10 days on electronics) can be returned if unused and in original packaging. Defective items follow replacement rules.
Flipkart: most electronics listings show 7-day or 10-day replacement on the product page. Flipkart Assured items follow the window shown at purchase. Open-box delivery categories may restrict returns.

Which sale should you shop?
Shop Amazon first if:
- You already pay for Prime and want the October 7 early window (if Amazon runs the usual 24-hour Prime preview again)
- You hold an SBI card and will max the confirmed 10% instant offer
- You want Alexa devices, Kindle, or Fire TV bundles (Amazon-exclusive hardware)
Shop Flipkart first if:
- You are Plus or Black and can enter October 8 early access
- Your target phone or TV SKU is historically Flipkart-exclusive (many Samsung and Apple launch offers lean Flipkart)
- You hold Axis or ICICI cards and Flipkart publishes matching 2026 BBD terms on the listing
