Gear is Roblox's name for tools you hold: swords, coils, potions, food, pets and the odd rainbow magic carpet. Each one has a catalog number, the gear ID. Type it into an admin command or a gear-enabled game and it lands in your backpack. The catch is that gear only works where the game allows it, and most modern games do not. How to use a Roblox gear ID
With admin commands:
- Join a game where you have admin, such as a free admin game or an admin house game.
- Open chat and type
:gear mefollowed by the ID, for example:gear me 16688968for the Gravity Coil. - The gear appears in your backpack. Swap
mefor a player name to give it to someone else, if the game allows it.
The exact command depends on the admin system the game uses. If :gear me does nothing, check the game's command list (often :cmds).
In a gear-enabled experience: gear you own shows up in your backpack when you join. Equip it from the hotbar like any tool.
In Roblox Studio:
- Open the command bar (View, then Command Bar).
- Run
game:GetService("InsertService"):LoadAsset(16688968).Parent = workspace, using your gear ID. - Move the Tool inside the loaded Model into StarterPack so every player spawns with it.

Why some gear IDs stop working
- The game has gear turned off. This is the most common reason. No ID will work there.
- You do not have admin.
:gearcommands only respond to players with admin rights in that game. - The gear relies on old scripts. Some very old gear was built for older Roblox systems and may misbehave in new games.
- The ID was mistyped. Copy and paste instead of typing.
