Best Free AI Music Generators (2026)

SumitSumit··14 min read

The best free AI music generator right now is Google Flow Music, because its free plan includes daily credits, full songs and downloads. Suno is still the most popular song maker, with 50 free credits a day (about 10 songs), but free users get only a handful of lifetime downloads and no commercial rights.

That second point is the big change of 2026. AI music tools have signed deals with record labels, and free plans got tighter as a result. Udio no longer lets anyone download songs, and Suno limits free downloads. So the real questions are: can you download the song, how long can it be, and are you allowed to use it in a YouTube video or a game? This list covers 8 free AI music generators and answers those for each one, using the official pricing pages, help centers and terms. We have not judged sound quality ourselves.

The best free AI music generators

1. Google Flow Music: Best Free AI Song Maker Overall

  • Android
  • iPhone and iPad

Lyria 3.5, daily credits

Google Flow Music is a full music studio you talk to. Describe a song, or start from your own lyrics, and it builds a full-length track with vocals using Lyria 3.5, Google's newest music model. Then you can ask for changes, split stems or make a music video for it.

  • Free plan: $0 with a Google account, with daily top-up credits, 2 songs generating at once and all core features. Google does not publish the daily credit number.
  • Downloads: Songs can be edited, remixed, shared and downloaded on the free plan.
  • Ownership: Google says it does not claim ownership of original content you create with Flow Music.
  • Commercial use: Google lists commercial use rights as a benefit of its paid Google AI plans, which include Flow Music plans. Free accounts are not covered by that line, so check the terms before using a free song commercially.
  • Paid plans: Starter is $6 a month with 3,000 credits (about 600 songs). Plus is $18 and Member is $48.
  • Requirements: You must be 18 or older, verify your age and live in a supported region.

For most people who just want to make songs for fun, this is the most generous free plan right now.

2. Suno: Best Known AI Song Generator

About 10 free songs a day

Suno turns a text prompt, a hummed tune or an uploaded recording into a complete song with lyrics and vocals. It is the name most people know, and it is very easy to use.

  • Free credits: 50 credits a day, which Suno says is enough for about 10 songs. Credits do not roll over.
  • Free model: v6-mini. Pro and Premier get Suno's better v6 and v6-wild models.
  • Downloads: Since September 3, 2026, free users get up to 7 lifetime trial downloads for personal, non-commercial use. Newer free accounts may get occasional trial downloads and can buy more.
  • Rights: Free songs are for personal, non-commercial use only. Pro and Premier include commercial use rights.
  • Paid plans: Pro is $8 a month billed yearly, with 2,500 credits and 20 downloads a month. Premier is $24 a month billed yearly, with 10,000 credits, 60 downloads and Suno Studio.

Suno's free plan is perfect for making songs to share inside the app with friends. If you plan to use a song in a video, pay for Pro first, because songs made on the free plan do not gain commercial rights later.

3. Gemini: Best for Quick 30-Second Tracks

Free 30-second songs

The Gemini app can now make music. Type a mood or an inside joke, or upload a photo, and it composes a track with vocals and adds cover art made by Nano Banana.

  • Free: Everyone can make 30-second tracks with the Fast model. There is a limit on how many, and Gemini tells you when you reach it.
  • Paid: Full tracks up to three minutes, and higher limits, need a Google AI plan (AI Plus from $4.99 a month in the US).
  • Watermark: Every track carries SynthID, Google's inaudible watermark for AI content.
  • Availability: Every country where the Gemini app works, for users 18 and over.

It is the fastest way to try AI music if you already use Gemini. For anything longer than a jingle, Google Flow Music gives you more for free.

4. ElevenLabs Music: Best Licensed AI Music

Built with label partners

ElevenLabs, best known for AI voices, also makes music with its Music v2 model. It says the model was built in partnership with artists, labels and publishers, and that tracks are cleared for broad commercial use on paid plans.

  • Free plan: 10,000 credits a month, which ElevenLabs says equals about 11 minutes of music, or roughly 3 to 5 tracks.
  • Free rights: Personal use only.
  • Paid plans: Starter is $6 a month (first month $1) with about 33 minutes of music and commercial use, but not streaming release. Creator is $22 a month with about 134 minutes and stems.
  • Not covered: Self-serve plans exclude use in film, TV and studio games.

There is no app screenshot because the ElevenLabs mobile app is for voices, not music. If you need voiceovers too, see our free AI text to speech list, where ElevenLabs also appears.

5. Udio: Best for Listening and Remixing on the Platform

  • iPhone and iPad

No downloads

Udio was one of the best AI song makers, but it changed after its October 29, 2025 partnership with Universal Music Group. Downloading of audio, video and stems was disabled, so songs now stay inside Udio.

  • Free credits: Udio's help center lists 10 credits a day for free accounts, with a further monthly limit of 100 credits. Credits do not roll over.
  • Downloads: Disabled for all users, free and paid.

Udio is still fun for making and sharing songs on the platform. It is no longer a source of music for your own videos or projects.

6. AIVA: Best for Instrumental and Film-Style Scores

MIDI downloads

AIVA writes instrumental music in more than 250 styles, from orchestral to lo-fi. Unlike the song makers above, it lets you edit the notes, and it exports MIDI files you can open in any music software.

  • Free forever plan: 3 downloads a month, tracks up to 3 minutes, MP3 and MIDI files.
  • Rights on free: AIVA owns the copyright, you cannot monetise the music, and you must credit AIVA.
  • Standard (€11 a month billed yearly): 15 downloads, tracks up to 5 minutes, limited monetisation.
  • Pro (€33 a month billed yearly): you own the copyright, with full monetisation and 300 downloads a month.

There is no app screenshot because AIVA runs in the browser and as a desktop app. Use the free plan for school projects, demos and personal videos where you can add a credit.

7. Mureka: Best for Remixing Community Songs

  • Android
  • iPhone and iPad

Daily free allowance

Mureka mixes a song maker with a streaming feed. You can create songs from text, images or video, listen to other people's tracks and remix them into a new style.

  • Free use: Free users get a daily allowance that expires at the end of each day.
  • Downloads: Mureka's FAQ says downloading is a subscription-only feature.
  • Rights: Its May 2026 terms say Mureka owns free-tier output and licenses it to you only for personal, non-commercial use. Ignore marketing lines about "royalty-free" music, which apply to paid plans.

Treat Mureka as a creative toy on the free plan and read the terms before paying for commercial use.

8. Stable Audio 3.0: Best Free AI Music for Commercial Use

Open weights, runs locally

Stable Audio 3.0, from Stability AI, is the odd one out: the Small and Medium models are open weights, which means you can download them from Hugging Face and run them on your own computer for free, with no credits.

  • Rights: Under the Stability AI Community License you own your outputs and can sell them, as long as your organisation makes under $1 million a year. Above that you need an Enterprise licence.
  • Training data: Stability says all Stable Audio 3.0 models were trained on fully licensed data.
  • Length: 3.0 Small makes up to two minutes. 3.0 Medium makes more than six minutes.
  • Catch: You need a capable computer and some technical skill to set it up. It is built for instrumentals and sound, not polished pop songs with vocals.

There is no app screenshot because there is no official consumer app for the open models. If you can handle the setup, it is the cleanest free route to music you can use in a paid project.

Who should pay

What is the best free AI music generator?
Google Flow Music has the most generous free plan right now, with daily top-up credits, full-length songs made with Lyria 3.5, and downloads. Suno is the best known, with 50 free credits a day (about 10 songs), but free songs are for personal use and downloads are limited to a few lifetime trial downloads.
Is Suno free?
Yes. Suno's free plan gives 50 credits a day, which Suno says is about 10 songs, using its v6-mini model. Free songs are for personal, non-commercial use only. Since September 3, 2026, free users get up to 7 lifetime trial downloads. Pro costs $8 a month billed yearly and adds commercial rights and 20 downloads a month.
Can I use free AI music on YouTube?
Usually not if the video is monetised. Suno, ElevenLabs, AIVA and Mureka limit free output to personal or non-commercial use. Stable Audio 3.0, which you run on your own computer, lets you own and commercialise the output under its community licence if you make under $1 million a year. Paid plans from Suno and ElevenLabs also include commercial rights.
Can I still download songs from Udio?
No. Udio disabled downloads of audio, video and stems on October 29, 2025, as part of its partnership with Universal Music Group. You can still make and listen to songs on Udio, but the files stay on the platform.
Can Gemini make music for free?
Yes. Everyone can make 30-second tracks with vocals in the Gemini app using the Fast model, with a limit on how many. Full tracks up to three minutes and higher limits need a Google AI plan. You must be 18 or older, and every track carries Google's SynthID watermark.
Which AI music generator gives full copyright for free?
Stable Audio 3.0's open models, run on your own computer, let you own your outputs under the Stability AI Community License, for individuals and organisations earning under $1 million a year. Most online tools keep rights or limit free use: AIVA owns the copyright on free downloads, and Mureka owns free-tier output.
