Best SaaS Free Trials in 2026: 22 Tools Compared

Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft logos above the words best SaaS free trials

A free trial is the cheapest way to find out whether a tool fits your business. It is also the easiest way to get billed for something you forgot about. The trials worth taking are the ones that tell you up front how long you get, whether they need your card, and what happens on the last day.

We checked 22 popular SaaS free trials for small businesses and freelancers across CRM, support, marketing, websites, project management, accounting, office suites and developer tools. For each one we list the trial length, whether a credit card is required, whether it bills you automatically, what happens when it ends, and the price you pay after. Prices come from each company's US pricing page or help center.

How to take a free trial without getting billed

  • Put the end date in your calendar the minute you sign up, two days early.
  • Prefer no-card trials. If a card is required, assume it will be charged.
  • Use the trial on real work. Import a real client list or a real project. A demo workspace tells you nothing.
  • Export before the end. Some tools lock or delete trial data. Others keep it on a free plan.
  • Ask for an extension. Sales-led tools like Zendesk, Intercom and Pipedrive often extend a trial if you ask.

More trials worth knowing

  • Canva Pro: 30 days free. Adding a card is optional; if you add one, it bills at the end. See our Canva alternatives if the price puts you off.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Pro: 7 days, card required, auto-bills at $69.99 a month on an annual plan. Cancel within 14 days of your first charge for a full refund. After that, cancelling an annual plan costs 50% of the remaining months.
  • Google Workspace: 14 days, card required. Adding an 11th user ends the trial immediately and starts billing.
  • Shopify: 3 days free, then $1 a month for the first three months on selected plans.
  • QuickBooks Online and FreshBooks: 30 days free, but both often offer a large first-months discount instead. You usually have to choose one or the other.
  • 1Password: 14 days free, then $2.99 a month billed annually for the first year.

Tools with a free plan instead of a trial

Some popular tools skip trials entirely because their free plans are good enough to start on:

  • Figma: free Starter plan with three design files.
  • Notion: free plan for individuals, with limited block history for teams. See Notion alternatives.
  • ClickUp: free forever plan.
  • Zoom: free meetings up to 40 minutes.
  • Grammarly: free plan with basic grammar checks.
  • Ahrefs: no free trial; a limited free Webmaster Tools account for sites you own.

FAQs

Which SaaS free trials do not need a credit card?

HubSpot, Salesforce Starter, Pipedrive, Zendesk, Intercom, monday.com, Asana, Squarespace, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero, Calendly and Vercel all start without a card in the US, according to their sign-up pages when we checked.

Which free trials charge you automatically?

Semrush, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Shopify's $1 offer and 1Password bill you automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel. Canva Pro and Mailchimp bill automatically only if you added a card.

What happens to my data when a free trial ends?

It depends on the tool. HubSpot, Asana, monday.com, Calendly, Slack and Canva move you to a free plan and keep your work. Xero goes read-only. Pipedrive, Zendesk and Intercom lock the account until you pay. Export anything important before the last day.

Can I extend a SaaS free trial?

Often, yes. Sales-led tools like Zendesk, Intercom, Pipedrive and Salesforce regularly extend trials if you contact sales or support before the end. Self-serve tools like Semrush and Adobe rarely do.

Is it allowed to sign up for a second free trial with another email?

Most terms of service allow one trial per customer or business, so creating new accounts to repeat a trial can get the account closed. Asking for an extension is the safer route.

Which SaaS tools have the longest free trials?

Salesforce Starter, Asana, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero and Canva Pro give 30 days. Microsoft 365 gives one month. Most others give 14 days, and Semrush and Adobe give 7.
